Who curls at Loggerhead?

Curlers at Loggerhead range in age from 16 to well into their 70s.  We are students, working professionals, retirees, athletes, and people who saw curling on TV and thought, “That’s interesting! I’ll try it.”

Most of our members learned to curl right here in South Florida. Many tried it during a Curling Experience or Learn-to-Curl session and never looked back. We also welcome snowbirds and transplants from northern clubs who join us for a season (or more!) and bring their experience to the ice.

We’re a highly social club — gathering both on and off the ice for league nights, bonspiels, watch parties, and non-curling events throughout the year. Curling may bring us together, but community is what keeps us coming back.

Unlike most northern clubs, we curl year-round. With four seasons — fall, winter, spring, and summer — there’s always a league forming and always a place to jump in.

Our History

March 2018 – A Bold Idea on Florida Ice

The Palm Beach Curling Club was founded with a simple but ambitious goal: bring the Olympic sport of curling to Palm Beach County. Later that same year, we competed in our first bonspiel in Orlando—and won. That early victory confirmed what we already believed: curling had a future in South Florida.

February 2020 – A Permanent Home

Loggerhead Curling Club was born when we established permanent ice at Palm Beach Skate Zone, sharing the facility with hockey players and figure skaters. Just as the club was gaining momentum and welcoming new curlers, COVID shutdowns brought the world—and our ice—to a halt.

2022 – Resilience Through Fire

As we prepared for what is traditionally a major recruiting moment for curling clubs during the 2022 Winter Olympics, disaster struck. The rink roof caught fire, forcing us to pause once again. But the club’s spirit never faded. If anything, it strengthened our commitment to building curling in Palm Beach County.

January 2024 – League Play Takes Off

We launched our first four-team league in January 2024. Since then, every quarter has brought growth.  Our curling community continued to expand season after season, welcoming new members and pushing our number of teams into the double digits in 2025.

2026 – The Curling Bug Spreads

Coinciding with the 2026 Winter Olympics, interest surged. Sold-out curling experiences, learn-to-curl sessions, and instructional leagues introduced hundreds of South Floridians to the sport. What began as a bold idea became a thriving, growing curling community.
